Lenovo revamps midrange and introduces economical gaming laptops

In addition to a new notebook for the professional world, Lenovo has also announced a new device designed for light work and entertainment. About the program: A beautiful ThinkBook, an attractive convertible, and even a reasonably priced gaming laptop compared to technical datasheets.

Let’s start with IdeaPad Gaming 3. This, as the name implies, is a laptop specifically designed for video games. Therefore, unlike the ThinkPad X13, it benefits from a dedicated graphics card.

At this level, customers can choose between Nvidia and… Intel. It’s still an amazing duo, but it’s a duo that you’ll have to get used to as the dedicated Arc GPU graphics card is approaching. In this case, it’s the Intel Arc A370M, which can obviously provide full HD game sequences or 4K video editing. Those who prefer to stay on the familiar ground can rely on Nvidia cards up to the RTX 3060 model.

On the CPU side, you can choose from two different ranges. On the one hand, there are 12th generation Intel Core i7 processors up to the Core i7 12700H. On the other hand, it is possible to choose AMD processors up to Ryzen 7 6800H. These elements power a WQHD + (2560 x 1600, 16:10 format) 15 or 16 inch IPS panel capable of outputting 165 frames per second.

And the cake icing is that the 15-inch model starts at € 999, so this beautiful little machine will be sold at a fairly competitive price! Therefore, it is almost a defensive value of money and is rare enough to be highlighted in gaming laptops.

Reasonably priced new IdeaPad

Continue the IdeaPad family with Flex5i. This is a 14 “or 16” 360 ° hinged convertible with a beautiful 2.8K OLED screen for the most expensive version. It also inherits the 12th generation Intel Core i7 U series or AMD Ryzen 7, so it is fully equipped.

Like all convertibles of this type today, they are clearly compatible with the optional stylus. This generation is also generally thinner and lighter than the previous generation. Please note that the Intel version is also available for the Chromebook version with a 14 inch FHD screen.

The IdeaPad Flex 5i will start at € 499 for 14 inches and € 699 for 16 inches from June 2022, and the IdeaPad Flex 5 AMD will start at € 549 for 14 inches and € 699 for 16 inches from May 2022. The IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook will be available from June 2022 for € 549.

I’m still on IdeaPad, and I’ve also found IdeaPad Duet 5i. There is nothing special here except that it is a 2-in-1 device. The Duet 5i comes with a 12-inch 2.5K IPS touchscreen, remains in 16:10 format, and is sold with a magnetic keyboard.

IdeaPad Duet 5i will be available from July 2022 for € 749.

The excellent ThinkBook has also been updated

Lenovo has also renewed its excellent midrange lineup with two new devices, the ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 2 and the ThinkBook 13s Gen 4i. These two models, not currently available, are eligible for the 12th Generation Intel Core i7 processor (no exact model specified) supported with 32GB of RAM.

As always, these models don’t have their own graphics card. In either case, you need to rely on the IrisXe platform to provide the screen. For yoga, it’s a 14-inch FHD IPS panel, but 13s is 2.5K and has the right to a 13.3 inch panel. The latter also boasts a flattering screen / border ratio of 91%.

Both devices benefit from the Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 standards, a full-size HDMI port, a Thunderolt 4 port, a USB-A socket, and a 3.5mm jack. However, Yoga is entitled to a small bonus at this level using an additional USB-A socket and micro-SD slot.

The ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 2 will be available from June 2022 for € 899. Meanwhile, the ThinkBook 13s Gen 4i will be available from June 2022 starting at € 749.
